IDA OKs $500K for food plant

The Orange County Industrial Development Agency on Thursday approved giving $500,000 to Amy’s Kitchen for infrastructure work at the 200-acre site in Goshen that company has selected as a possible location for a natural-food manufacturing plant.
Some quick facts about Amy’s Kitchen:
• Family-owned company, founded in 1987
• Based in Petaluma, Calif.
• Has 1,900 employees
• Manufactures 700,000 meals daily
• Uses 32 million pounds of organic tomatoes annually
• Produces more than 250 organic products
• Makes 40,000 pounds of tofu weekly
• All products are vegetarian, and egg- and- peanut-free
